How to Avoid Answering a Question

Hi Polite One: I work for a gigantic company many hate. When people hear the name, the response is always negative and on occasion, violent. I joined a country club recently and at a new member event I was asked the dreaded question “what do you do?” I said, “well, you know this and that”. The new members thought I was a gangster and made a hasty retreat. What is the politest way not to answer this question? I’ve tried to say I work in an office but with follow-up questions, they figure it out, and then it gets unpleasant.  Any ideas? My Brother is Rude to My Children!

  How to deal with my brother's poor behavior? Family!   At times, we ask ourselves what we can do but scream or cry or...sigh?   Most often, we can be honest and open with family members when there is a difference of opinion.   But what if there is obvious indifference to our children?   Yikes!   Here’s a heartbreaking example of just that.
